个人简介
Harshvardhan (M'05) received the B.Tech. degree in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, in 1969, the M.S. degree in heat power engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 1971, and the Ph.D. degree in atmospheric science from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, in 1976.
He was an NRC Resident Research Associate with the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD, in 1977, where he continued as a University Research Associate until 1988. He has been involved with several NASA projects, including the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, where he teaches courses in atmospheric physics, climate, satellite remote sensing, and atmospheric radiation. His research interests include the remote sensing of cloud and aerosol properties and the study of radiative forcing in global climate models.
Dr. Harshvardhan has served as the Editor for the Journal of Applied Meteorology (1996–2001). He was the recipient of the Henry G. Houghton Award of the American Meteorological Society (1993) and the NASA Group Achievement Award for FIRE II.
