Bio
I hold a PhD in Material Chemistry and Environmental Engineering from Imperial College London, which I completed in 2022. Prior to that, I earned a BSc with honors in Chemistry and an MSc in Chemistry from Alexandria University. Currently, I serve as a lecturer in the Environmental Chemistry Department at NIOF and I am proud to be a member of both the Royal Society of Chemistry and the London Centre for Nanotechnology.
My research interests revolve around the application of material chemistry in environmental contexts, particularly in the areas of clean energy production and water treatment. I focus on topics such as photocatalysis, hydrogen (H2) production, and adsorption. I have been fortunate to receive the Newton-Mosharafa PhD Scholarship as well as an internal scholarship from Imperial College London. During my PhD studies, I secured funding from the CDT-ACM (Centre for Doctoral Training in Advanced Characterisation of Materials) to conduct research on materials characterization at the London Centre for Nanotechnology.
Throughout my doctoral program, I achieved notable progress in enhancing the photocatalytic properties of TiO2 through the use of metal oxide doping. Additionally, I conducted research on H2 production through water splitting employing metal oxides. The results of my work have been published in several high-impact journals in this field. Technically, my research involved extensive utilization of advanced analytical techniques including XPS, LEIS, ICPMS, HR-TEM, HR-SEM, AAS, XRD, XRF, and laser photophysics.
In recognition of my teaching abilities, I was honored with the Internal Award of Imperial College London for the Best Teaching Assistant in the year 2020. Furthermore, during the academic year 2021/2022, I actively contributed to the Student Shapers Project at Imperial College London, showcasing my dedication to student engagement and educational initiatives.
