Bio
Hans-Joachim Krause was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1963. He received the degree in physics and mathematics in Braunschweig and Aachen, Germany, the Dipl.-Phys. degree in 1990, and the Ph.D. degree from RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany, in 1993.
He was involved in the development of tunable high-power laser systems for nonlinear optical spectroscopy at interfaces with Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, Jülich, Germany. He joined the SQUID Application Department, Forschungszentrum Jülich. He initiated the Nondestructive Evaluation Group, where he was involved in projects together with several industrial and research partners for the development of SQUID systems for magnetic testing of aircraft parts, prestressed concrete bridges, and other structures. In 2011, he was appointed as a Visiting Professor with Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France. He currently leads the SQUID and Magnetic Sensing Group, focusing on SQUID sensors, magnetic biosensing, low field nuclear magnetic resonance, magnetic nanoparticle actuation, magnetic immunoassays, and microwave moisture sensing.
