Bio
Why do we exist? This question pushed me to wonder how can I serve my best. Thus, I undertook a biomedical career.
In 2015, I completed the Bachelor's degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience at the Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech (Morocco). Later, I joined an International Master in Health Science Biology directed by Hassan II University (Morocco) and medical faculty of Aix-Marseille University (France) to deeper the biology knowledge. In 2017, I was blessed with a great opportunity in the Biomedical Department of the Centre Scientifique de Monaco (Monaco), where I carried a Master's research internship within the Tumoral Hypoxia and Metabolism team. The mentors Dr. Jacques Pouysségur and Dr. Milica Vučetić transferred great passion for the scientific research, and the other outcome was a publication as a co-author in Cancer Research.
Next, I undertook a second Master’s in Cancer Biology at Caen Normandie University (France). The blessing was on going in 2019, when I moved to the University Hospital of Basel (Switzerland). There, I carried a Master’s research internship in the Brain Tumour Immunotherapy team at the Biomedicine Department. I was mentored by Prof. Gregor Hutter and Tomás Martines. The outcome of an encouraging mentorship was a poster publication in Clinical and translational Neuroscience. Working on CAR-T cells immunotherapy was a dream that came true, as the project is in line with my long-term aspirations.
Reaching greatness in engineering therapeutic molecular constructs requires expertise in molecular biology. Thus, following the reception of the “Action Lion - Vaincre le cancer” grant, I joined the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) in 2020 to undertake a Ph.D. in the DNA Repair and Chemo-resistance team at the Department of Cancer Research. I also obtained a competitive AFR Ph.D. grant (ID 15758779) from the FNR in 2021, allowing me to fund my Ph.D. studies for four years. In the laboratory of Dr. Eric Van Dyck, I am gaining analytical skills, molecular and cellular biology technical skills also expertise in telomere metabolism. It is gratefully the opportunity that I was longing for.
In 2021, the outcome was also a publication that the Cancers journal editorial board selected for the cover.
The point is to enrich my experience in cancer metabolism, immunotherapy, and DNA repair. Then, move to my long-term aspiration: Understanding the interplay between lung cancer, immunosuppression, and brain tumor. My trigger to tackle this path is my family, but also the increasing number of cancer patients around the world. However, thanks to advances in cancer research, cures for several cancer types are discovered.
