Bio
Hamed Moftakhari received the B.S. degree from the Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2007, the M.S. degree from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, in 2010, and the Ph.D. degree in civil and environmental engineering from Portland State University, Portland, OR, USA, in 2015.
He was a Post-Doctoral Scholar with the University of California at Irvine, Irvine, CA, USA, from 2015 to 2018. He has been an Assistant Professor with the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL, USA, since August 2018. His research is mainly on coastal hydrology and the impacts of the compound and cascading hazards on people and assets located in low-lying coastal areas.
Dr. Moftakhari was a recipient of the National Academies’ Early-Career Research Fellowship in 2020, the Cronin Award–Early Achievement from the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation in 2021, and the Maseeh Graduate Fellowship in 2012.
