个人简介
Since 1995, Dr. H. Wayne Lambert has been teaching professional students and residents at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Vanderbilt University, University of Louisville, and West Virginia University (WVU) in the anatomical sciences: gross anatomy, embryology, neuroanatomy, and histology. At WVU, his teaching efforts are focused in medical and dental gross anatomy and neuroanatomy. In 2010, Dr. Lambert was the recipient of the WVU Distinguished Teacher Award for M.D. Programs and the WVU School of Medicine John W. Traubert Award. The latter award is selected by the student body and presented to a "student-centered basic science or clinical science faculty member who displays the characteristics of honest and ethical communication, respect, approachability, a positive attitude, and a willingness to serve as a mentor". In 2011 and 2013, Dr. Lambert received the Percival L. MacLachlan Basic Sciences Award as he was selected by WVU second year medical students in recognition for excellence in teaching basic medical sciences. In 2012, the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Thomas F. Nowlin Award for Best Performance by a Section was given to Dr. Lambert in his role of Councilor of the ADEA Section on Anatomical Sciences. In 2013, Dr. Lambert was also the recipient of the 2013 Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching and was a co-recipient of the 2013 Chancellor’s Innovation Award. He also won the Vice President's Award for Mentoring in 2015. On a national level, he received the ADEA/Colgate-Palmolive Co. Excellence in Teaching Award in 2013, an award presented to one national dental educator each year.
Dr. Lambert’s scholarly activities center on: (1) the expansion of clinical and translational research through the use of cadaveric material; (2) the development, review, and assessment of questions to prepare students for the National Medical Board Examinations (NMBE); (3) the study and research of variability within cadaveric specimens to note its impact on clinical anatomy; (4) the assessment of content, learning, and instructional methodology in current basic science courses and textbooks; and (5) the study of how dental students are taught the basic sciences.
Dr. Lambert has held leadership positions in four national and international professional associations (American Association of Clinical Anatomists (AACA), American Association of Anatomists (AAA), ADEA, and the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE)). From 2011-2015, Dr. Lambert served as the Gross Anatomy Expert on the National Board Anatomic Sciences Test Committee within the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE). Since 2005, he has contributed to twenty-three textbooks in the fields of anatomy, embryology, and histology, highlighted by serving as a co-author on textbooks entitled “Lippincott’s Illustrated Q&A Review of Anatomy and Embryology” with Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins of Wolters Kluwer Health in 2010 and "Rapid Review: Anatomy Reference Guide, 4th edition in 2018. During this time, Dr. Lambert has also been an invited reviewer for the NBME, JCNDE, ADEA, AACA, Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA), LWW, Content Connections, Elsevier, and twelve peer-reviewed journals in the fields of medical and dental education and the anatomical sciences.
