Career Trajectory
Bio
I am a medical sociologist with diverse research interests that include suicide prevention, health disparities, health services & health outcomes research, and the development of innovative medical and public health information systems. Over the past 20 years I have led several major studies funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Institute for Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and the Department of Defense. I am currently leading the evaluation of Connecticut’s State Innovation Model test grant, a $45 million initiative to transform the state’s healthcare delivery system. I have also partnered with the state of Connecticut for the past 10 years to implement and evaluate suicide prevention initiatives under the state’s Garrett Lee Smith youth suicide prevention initiatives. I serve on the Advisory Board of the Connecticut All-Payer Claims Database and Vice Chair of the New England Comparative Effectiveness Public Advisory Council (CEPAC).
