Hafizal Mohamad

Hafizal Mohamad (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Eng. (Hons.) and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from the University of Southampton, U.K., in 1998 and 2003, respectively. He is currently a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. He is the co-inventor of 36 filed patents and nine granted patents in the field of wireless communication. He has coauthored over 100 research papers. His research interests include wireless communication, cognitive radio, mesh networks, and the Internet of Things. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. He was a recipient of several awards, including the ASEAN Outstanding Scientist and Technologist Award (AOSTA) and Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TRSM) by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. He has served in various leadership roles in the IEEE, including the Vice Chair for the IEEE Malaysia Section, in 2013, and the Chair for IEEE ComSoc/VT Chapter, from 2009 to 2011. He was the Conference Operation Chair for the IEEE ICC 2016, and the Technical Program Chair for the IEEE VTC Spring 2019 and APCC 2011. He is an enthusiastic supporter of industrial and academic liaison. He is also appointed as an expert panel for various technical committees.
