Henrik Lemke seeks to improve the understanding in functional processes using ultrafast time resolved X-ray methods. Using the element specificity and high spatial resolution of X-rays at FEL-based femtosecond timescales allows to characterize the electronic and atomic structural configuration during the out-of-equilibrium changes of material properties, which provide new insights that may unravel their mechanisms.
