个人简介
Herodotos Herodotou (Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from Duke University, in May 2012. He was a Senior Research SDE with the Data Management, Exploration and Mining Team, Microsoft Research. His professional experience includes additional research positions with Yahoo! Labs and Aster Data, and programming jobs with Microsoft and RWD Technologies. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer and Informatics Engineering, Cyprus University of Technology, where he is the Scientific Manager of the Data Intensive Computing Research Laboratory. He has been engaged in various research projects related to cloud computing covering the compute, storage, and networking layers in global data centers. His research interests include large-scale data processing systems, database systems, and storage systems. In particular, his work focuses on the simplification of use, manageability, and automatic tuning of centralized as well as distributed large-scale data analysis systems. In addition, he is interested in the application of database and machine learning techniques in other domains, such as energy, environment, maritime, tourism, and social computing. His Ph.D. thesis received the honors “SIGMOD Jim Gray Doctoral Dissertation Award Honorable Mention” and the “Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award in Computer Science at Duke.”
