Bio
Guillermo Rosas is Professor of Political Science at Washington University in St. Louis. His research focuses on the economic consequences of political regimes and on the effects of political institutions on political elite behaviour, especially in Latin America, and has appeared in the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Politics, and Comparative Political Studies, among others. He is the author of Curbing Bailouts: Bank Crises and Democratic Accountability in Comparative Perspective (University of Michigan Press, 2009) and co-author of Latin American Party Systems (Cambridge University Press, 2010) and The Chain of Representation: Preferences, Institutions, and Policy in Latin America's Presidential Systems (Cambridge University Press, 2021).
Rosas obtained his PhD in Political Science at Duke University (2002) and was a faculty member at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México before joining Washington University in 2003. He has held visiting professor appointments at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals and Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.
