Bio
Born on January 10, 1995, in Benin Republic, Guillaume Jesugnon Bodjrenou is a PhD student in Agronomy, major Genetics and Plant Breeding at the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC).
He completed his scientific baccalaureate degree in 2012. Upon entering the University of Abomey-Calavi in 2012-2013, Guillaume J. Bodjrenou will continue his higher education in Chemistry-Biology-Geology (CBG) and obtain his Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biotechnology and Biological Resources in 2015 at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST) of the UAC. In June 2019 he completed his Master's degree in Biotechnology and Plant breeding at the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences of UAC.
As a professional experience, he worked as a research assistant in the laboratory of Genetics, Biotechnology and Seed sciences (GBioS) for 03 years and has to get practical knowledge in genetic diversity assessment of different crop species, in biostatistics analysis in R software and genome analysis. He also works as a technician in the department of Genetics and Biotechnology of the FAST/UAC and acquired relevant skills in DNA extraction, amplification and revelation through a different approach.
In 2017, during his volunteer service at the regional centre of Songhaï, he became interested in agroecology. He is very committed to agroecological practices to mitigate climate change effects and land preservation.
In August 2020, he will be employed as Project Manager in the GBioS lab for 02 years. He managed the AGRO-ECO (Amplification de la transition agroécologiques pour des systèmes de productions céréalières et maraîchères profitables et durables dans les territoires de l’Atacora au Bénin et du Houet au Burkina-Faso) and TAERA (Accompagnement de la Transition Agroécologique par la Recherche Agricole) projects funded by ARES-Belgium and ENABEL respectively.
Having obtained a doctoral scholarship funded by the BIOVALOR project (Renforcement de la démarche compétences et de la culture entrepreneuriale dans la formation supérieure agronomique : leviers pour l’insertion professionnelle et le développement de la bioéconomie au Bénin) in September 2022, Guillaume J. Bodjrenou began his doctoral work in October 2022 for a duration of three (03) years.
