Bio
Gregorio Guitián is associate professor of Moral Theology and Dean of the School of Theology of the University of Navarra. He began his career with a degree in Business Administration and Management from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, followed by a degree in theology from the University of Navarra. He then studied for a master and doctorate in theology (dogmatic theology) from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Rome). His dissertation addressed the role of mediations in salvation according to Aquinas and explored the theological roots of the principle of subsidiarity. His current research field is Catholic Social Teaching (CST) on economic issues. He is currently leading, together with professor Ana Marta González, the research project "The meaning of work in recent theology" at the School of Theology of the University of Navarra, and is also interested in the theological roots of the fundamental principles of the CST. He has published several books and book chapters, and numerous articles in international journals, particularly in the domain of Business Ethics. Most recent publications include: "Como el alma del mundo. Moral Social y Doctrina Social de la Iglesia" (Palabra, 2022); "How financial institutions can serve the common good of society. Insights from Catholic Social Teaching", Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility (2021).
He has previously served as associate dean for research at the School of Theology of the University of Navarra (2016-2019) and has got 2 research periods ("sexenios") acknowledged by the CNEAI (Department of Education).
