Graduated in Industrial Electronics Engineering in 1994, received the M.Sc. degree in 1998 and the Ph.D. degree in 2004, all from the University of Minho, Guimarães, Portugal. Her PhD thesis work was in cooperation with the Laboratory for Electronic Instrumentation of the Delft University of Technology, Delft, The Netherlands, and dealt with lab-on-a-chips for biological fluids analysis. She is an Associate Professor, at the Department of Industrial Electronics, University of Minho, Portugal, where she is involved in biomedical micro devices research, specially micromachining and micro fabrication technology, lab-on-a-chip devices for fluids, SU-8 techniques, co-integration of optical interference filters on CMOS.
