Bio
Dr Govinda Poudel graduated with BE (1st Class Honours) from UTS, Sydney and was awarded a PhD from the University of Otago, NZ in 2010. His research are in Biomedical Engineering and Neuroimaging and particularly in 1) Multimodal neuroimaging with emphasis on sleep research and biomarker discovery in neurodegenerative disorders (e.g. Huntington's disease), (2) Development and application of computerized tests for quantification of visuomotor and cognitive function, particularly in detection of lapses of responsiveness (microsleeps, attention lapses), and 3) signal processing and development of advanced methods for analysis of fMRI and EEG data.
He has experience working in both industry and academia. Prior to joining Monash, Govinda worked as a neuroscientist/neuroengineer for Department of Medical Physics and Bioengineering at Christchurch Hospital, New Zealand and as a Research Software Engineer for a multinational Healthcare data mining firm D2Hawkeye.
Govinda serves on the editorial board of journal SLEEP (www.journalsleep.org), which is the published by the Associated Professional Sleep Societies.
