Career Trajectory
Bio
Göran Wendin received the M.Sc. degree in engineering physics and the Ph.D. degree in theoretical physics from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1965 and 1972, respectively.
He has been employed at Chalmers since then, and is presently Professor of Theoretical Physics and Deputy Head of the Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience—MC2. He spent a postdoc year at CECAM, Orsay, France in 1972, and was Visiting Researcher at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, NY, in 1978–1979. He was Guest Professor at the synchrotron radiation facility LURE, Université Paris-Sud, Orsay 1981–1983, at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago in 1987–1988, and at Nippon Telegraph and Telecom (NTT) and Advanced Telecommunication Research Laboratory (ATR), Japan, 1997. His current research involves quantum computing, molecular electronics, and bionano interfaces. He is presently coordinating a major European consortium on quantum computing with superconducting circuits, and he is participating in two new European projects on molecular transport and computational functionality of nanoelectronic and molecular networks.
Dr. Wendin is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
