His research interests include ac drives, electric machines, high power converters, multilevel inverters, power semiconductor devices, and pulse-width modulation.
Prof. Narayanan received the INAE Innovative Student Project Award for his Ph.D. work, the Young Scientist Award from the Indian National Science Academy, the Microsoft Research (India) Outstanding Young Faculty Award, the IETE Bimal Bose Award, and Prof. Satish Dhawan outstanding young engineer award for his research activities in the areas of pulse width modulation, electronic power conversion and motor control.
