Bio
G. C. Das received the Ph.D. degree for theoretical studies on electromagnetic waves in plasmas in relation to diagnosis of the ionospheric and astrophysical plasmas from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 1974. He worked collaboratively with the Mechanical Engineering Department, the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
After receiving the degree, he joined the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore, India, as a Scientist. He was also a Visiting Scientist with the Centre d'Etudes Nucleaires, Fontenay aux Roses, France, and a Scholar in the Department of Physics, The Flinders University of South Australia, Adelaide, Australia. Currently, he is a Professor with Plasma Physics Division, Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology, Guwahati, India. His research interests include linear and nonlinear waves in plasma dynamics, especially on soliton dynamics in laboratory and space plasmas, the physics of dusty plasmas, and the nonlinear interaction in planetary magnetospheres, as well as in heliospheres.
