Research summary
Giuseppe is a qualitative researcher with a track record in international research projects addressing multi-scale socio-technical innovation especially in favour of more sustainable patterns of production and consumption.
At UCL, Giuseppe has been appointed to contribute to the UK Research and Innovation funded project 'CAMELLIA - Community and Water Management for a Liveable London' for which he explores stakeholder perceptions and priorities. He will also research participatory systems thinking processes and support our system dynamics modelling activities.
In recent years he has been investigating urban dynamics and unintended consequences including collaborative consumption and the sharing economy (EC funded 'Sharing Cities'), social inclusion through spatially distributed manufacturing (EC funded 'Digital DIY'), social dynamics in energy efficient retrofitted buildings (PoliSocial Award 'EnerPOP'), resource optimisation and product lifetime extension (EPSRC funded 'CIE-MAP', AHRC funded Dirt damage, servicing and repair').
He has contributed to projects addressing participatory approaches for the implementation of Nature-Based solutions (EC funded 'Clever Cities', Cariplo Foundation funded 'Climate proof landscapes').
Giuseppe has a key interest in developing participatory approaches for stakeholder engagement by drawing on co-design tools and methods, especially to minimise risks of unintended consequences and maximising the impact of applied research.
