My main research interest is to understand how ecosystems change under past, current und future changes in climatic and socio-economic conditions. Fire is a major disturbance agent for vegetation but also a hazardous event for humans. I am interested in improving models to understand the drivers of fire occurrence and impacts and its future trajectories. My main working tools are global vegetation models, model intercomparisons and model-data integration techniques.
