Bio
Gerson Chadi earned his M.D. degree in 1985 and Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 1991, both from University of São Paulo, Brazil. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Karolinska Institute, Sweden, from 1991 to 1994. He was the Scientific Coordinator of the Research Nucleus on Neuroscience and Behaviour at University of Säo Paulo from 2009 to 2013. Since 2006 he is a Full Professor of Experimental Neurology and acts as the Head of the Laboratory of Experimental Neurosurgery and the Head of the Neuroregeneration Research Group, Department of Neurology, at University of São Paulo School of Medicine, where he is also currently responsible for Translational Neuroscience. His research interests concentrate on Fundamental Neuroscience and Translational Neurology, with emphasis on cell and molecular biology and focusing on neural plasticity, neuronal protection, neuronal regeneration, neurodegenerative and neurotraumatic diseases, and cell therapy.
