Bio
Gérard Granet was born in 1959. He received the Engineering degree from the Institut National des Télécommunications, Évry, France, in 1985, and the Ph.D. degree in electronics from Blaise Pascal University, Clermont-Ferrand, France, in 1992.
He is at the origin of two fully original techniques for modeling periodic structures, namely the adaptive spatial resolution technique and the technique of matched coordinates for crossed gratings. He has also introduced perfectly matched layers as a particular case of coordinate transformation and thus developed modal methods for both periodic and aperiodic structures. He is currently a Professor of physics with Blaise Pascal University and the Head of the PHOTON Group, Institute Pascal, Blaise Pascal University. His current research interests include scattering by gratings, electromagnetic band-gap materials, metamaterials, and Maxwell’s equations in tensorial covariant form.
