Career Trajectory
Bio
When I was but an adolescent, I was very much interested in the link between natural phenomena, such as electricity and chemistry, and human behaviour. To begin to understand more about this relationship, I studied neuroscience at University College London. At UCL, I became interested in the neurobiological mechanisms of neurological disorders and potential therapeutic avenues. I also worked in laboratories, amassing experience and knowledge in 'wet lab' techniques, such as immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy and cell cultures. In 2017, I graduated with my MSci degree in Neuroscience and moved on to do a Neuroscience PhD.
In July 2018, I started my PhD at ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, where I studied the effects of hypercholesterolemia on neutrophil-mediated thromboinflammation after cerebral ischemia. The PhD wasn't satisfying to me and I resigned after two years.
From that point onward, I've enjoyed communicating science rather than carrying it out myself. I've devoted my time to obtaining the skills required to communicate science to the general public, reaching out to publications, and writing feature articles for them. Freelance science writing is what I see myself doing in the foreseeable future.
