个人简介
George read Chemistry at University College London (UCL), obtaining an MSci with Prof. Charles Marson in 2008. His PhD was supervised by Prof. Robert Stockman at the University of Nottingham, where his noteworthy achievements were: the first general cycloaddition methodology of chiral sulfinimines (Org Lett., 2013, 15, 2030) and the first total synthesis of poison-frog alkaloid cis-275B (Chem. Commun., 2014, 50, 15355). He has completed research placements at: GlaxoSmithKline (chemical development), Peakdale Molecular (kiloscale labs), and at the University of Crete, under the tutelage of Prof. Vassilikogiannakis (green- and photo-chemistry), and carried out Postdoctoral studies in the labs of Prof. Stockman and Prof. Chris Moody, specifically on the IMI European Lead Factory Project, and with Dr Tony Mete (MedSynDesign), on Malaria. In 2014, he moved to King’s College London (KCL) to complete a Postdoc in the group of Prof. David Thurston. The discoveries made therein led to a new spinout company, Femtogenix Ltd, in 2015, with the primary goal of developing novel Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs) for cancer. Femtogenix evolved into Pheon Therapeutics in Sep 2022, where he is still employed, now as Director of Chemistry. He recently presented some of his work at the AACR (Cancer Res (2022) 82 (12_Supplement): 1749).
