His main research interests are the epidemiology of allergic diseases, including asthma; and the lung function in infants. He served as a member of the steering and executive committees of the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC) for the last 7 years and is currently a member of the steering committee of the Global Asthma Network (GAN). He is the editor of "Allergologia et Immunopathologia" since 2008; and has served in different Task Forces and Committees of the European Respiratory Society.
