个人简介
G. Ivanova graduated in Chemistry with a specialisation in Organic and Analytical Chemistry from the University of Sofia in 1983. Between 1983 and 1986 she worked as a chemist in the Institute of Molecular Biology and Institute of Polymers at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). She completed a PhD degree in Chemistry from the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry (IOCCP) at BAS in 1993. Following the award of her PhD she was employed at IOCCP BAS as a research fellow and built an independent career, culminating in the award of a habilitation in 2003 and promotion to Associate Professor. She has established herself as an accomplished and independent scientist, with specialist expertise in NMR spectroscopy to solving structural problems in chemistry and biology. As part of her role in IOCCP she was involved in the general management of the NMR centre at BAS; she carried out teaching and training duties at BAS and the University of Sofia, and consultancy to the pharmaceutical firms BalkanPharma and Sopharma (Bulgaria), including validation of new pharmaceutical products. She continued in post until 2009, when she began work as assistant researcher at REQUIMTE, University of Porto. Her responsibilities at REQ-UP include the design/implementation of NMR experiments; training, day to day supervision of and consultation with members of research groups at UP; profitable integration into research projects and the general management and maintenance of NMR facilities at UP.
G. Ivanova has been awarded visiting fellowships at Queen Mary, University of London (Royal Society, 1995-1997), Dublin City University (2005-2006) and New University of Lisbon (2006-2009).
