Simon Arega Gebrewold received the M.Sc. degree in optics and photonics from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe, Germany, in 2012, with focus on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with directly modulated laser. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland, in optical communication systems group. His research interests include investigation and modeling of semiconductor optical amplifiers for application in wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network access solutions.
