个人简介
My research activity is focused on the study of the upper atmosphere of Venus and Mars through both data analysis and modelling. During my PhD, at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Andalucia in Granada (IAA-CSIC) in Spain, I was involved in the exploitation of data from the satellite Venus Express, orbiting around Venus from 2006 to 2014. More specifically I analyzed for the first time daytime IR limb spectra observed by the instrument VIRTIS/Venus Express to study non-LTE NIR emissions by CO2 and CO. I also contributed to the development of a 1-D ionospheric photochemical model, successively implemented in the Mars Global Circulation Model (MGCM) developed at the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (LMD), France. During my postdoc at LMD (2014-2016) I was in charge of the extension of the LMD Venus GCM up to the thermoshere of the planet (150 km) by the inclusion of the main physical processes playing a role in the thermal balance above 100 km. I was also investigating the impact of non-orographic gravity waves on diurnal tides and global circulation in the middle atmosphere of Mars using the MGCM.
I am currently PI of a 4-year-project funded by “Junta de Andalucía” under the Program EMERGIA 2021, at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Andalucia (IAA-CSIC), in Granada, Spain.
The project is conceived to: 1) improve our knowledge of the atmosphere of Venus and Mars; 2) foster the synergies between Solar System Planets and Exoplanets using similar 3D models.
From 2021 to 2022 I contributed as research Fellow to a Spanish national funded project called CLIMARS, focused on the study of hydrogen escape from the past atmosphere of Mars, and the evolution of the planet climate. From October 2016 to May 2021 I worked at Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA), in Lisbon, investigating the high variability observed in the middle/upper atmosphere of Venus and Mars combining model simulations and observations.
In addition, in 2018 I was awarded a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship and I was the PI of the project "Hot-TEA: Hot Terrestrial Exo-planet Atmospheres: preparing new generation instrument observations with a Global Climate Model”, funded by the European Union. My scientific interests are now also directed toward extrasolar planet atmosphere by means of 3D model simulations focused on Venus-like planets. The goal is studying how the planet’s atmosphere modifies the observable and how to support future observations of rocky planets with new generation upcoming instruments.
I am member of the ARIEL Portuguese Consortium and coordinator of the ARIEL WG "Synergies with Solar System planets" since Oct. 2018, and member of the Science Study Team of Envision/ESA since Dec. 2021.
