G. Rodriguez-Rodriguez completed his degree in Physics at the University of Oviedo (2003) and got his Ph.D in 2010 within the "Nanostructured hybrid systems" group of Prof. Alameda.
His Ph.D thesis (Microscopia de fuerza magnetica y magnetotransporte en laminas magneticas nanoestructuradas: configuracion magnetica y movimiento de paredes de dominio) was supervised by Mara Velez and Jose Luis Menendez and, in 2012, and awarded with the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. It is mainly based on nanostructured magnetic materials and the interaction between the magnetic configuration/domain walls and intrinsic or artificially patterned defects.
He has been working since 2002 with nanostructured magnetic materials, mainly from a local point of view. He started working at the nanoscale by setting up an Atomic and Magnetic Force Microscope, which was his main tool during his PhD. Anyway, he have extensively used micromagnetic calculations, low-temperature magnetotransport as well as magneto-optical measurements.
In 2009, he became part of the Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology Research Center - CINN , working in the Nanotechnology unit of the Scientific-technical facilities of the University of Oviedo. There, he is in charge of nanofabrication by e-beam and UV lithography, Ion bombardment and reactive gas etching and mainly SPM (AFM, MFM, VF-MFM) surface and magnetic nanocharacterization.
Between 09/2013 and 12/2014, at IMDEA nanoscience, within the Nanopyme project, he is performing GPU-based micromagnetic simulations of powder-based materials and pollycrystalline magnetic structures in a custom-built GPU-cluster.
Since September 2015 he holds a Lecturer position in the Applied Physics Department of the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha.
His main interest topics are active hybrid magnetic micro and nanodevices, nanofabrication, tip-sample interaction in scanning-probe magnetic measurements, micromagnetic simulations, domain wall dynamics and pinning phenomena.
