Bio
Paulo Freire received his PhD in 2001 from the University of Manchester in the UK. From 2001 to 2009 he worked at the Arecibo Observatory, in Puerto Rico, as a Cornell University research scientist. Since 2009, he has been a research associate at the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie, in Bonn, Germany, working in the group of Prof. Michael Kramer. His research focuses on the study of binary pulsars at radio wavelengths, which he has studies using a variety of large radio telescopes (Parkes, Arecibo, Green Bank, Effelsberg and MeerKAT). This research has been funded via an ERC consolidator grant and a grant from the Max Planck Society.
