Bio
Over the last 30 years, his main research activities have been dealing with the biochemistry of lipids and lipolytic enzymes, with a strong interest in methods for studying lipid-protein interactions at interfaces and for lipolytic enzyme assays. Besides these molecular aspects based on protein engineering, biophysical methods and analytical chemistry, he investigated lipid digestion both in vitro and in vivo in the course of clinical studies. He has contributed to a better understanding of the relative contributions to lipid digestion of several enzymes, including gastric lipase, pancreatic lipase and pancreatic lipase-related protein 2. His studies have paid the way to the development of in vitro digestion methods, of lipase inhibitors for obesity treatment and of lipases for enzyme replacement therapy in patients with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.
