Bio
Francesco Longo is an Associate Professor in Computer Engineering at the Engineering Department of the University of Messina. His main research interests include: analytical modeling and analysis of the performance, reliability, and availability of distributed systems; Grid and Cloud computing; Internet of Things and Fog/Edge computing with Smart City applications; Blockchain technologies and their uses for IoT, Cloud, and Fog/Edge computing. He is co-author of more than 100 articles in international journals and conferences. He was and is a member of the Program Committees and Organizing Committees of numerous international conferences and of the Editorial Board of "Future Generation Computer System", Elsevier, "International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks", SAGE Publications, and "Sensors", MDPI. He has been guest editor of numerous special issues on international journals. He has collaborated and collaborates on numerous national and international projects. Since 2010 he has been continuously teaching at the University of Messina in courses related to Computer Science and Engineering and he is the scientific manager of several agreements with important companies in the ICT sector on behalf of the Engineering Department. He is one of the founders of the innovative startup SmartMe.IO S.r.l., an academic spin off of the University of Messina. In 2021, Francesco Longo received the National Scientific Qualification for the functions of Full Professor in both Computer Engineering and Computer Science.
