RESEARCH ACTIVITY
Research activities have been focused on an improved understanding of the physiology
and pathology of human lipoproteins, especially high density lipoproteins (HDL), and of the
efficacy and mode of action of agents affecting lipoprotein metabolism.
The most original and relevant scientific contribution was the discovery of the
apolipoprotein A-I Milano variant and the development of the concept of “HDL-therapy”.
