Bio
The scientific interests of prof. Fabris covered Information Theory and Coding (source coding, variable length and concatenated codes, adaptive codes, asymptotic limitations for error correcting codes), Cryptography (generation of pseudorandom sequences and stream ciphers ), Neural Networks (Hopfield model and relative applications), and the applications of the Theory of Possibilities to models of transmission channel. Then he shifted the axis of his research to Bioinformatics, the connection between Information Theory and Molecular Biology, and the applications of Information Theory and Mathematics to biology and medicine. In particular he worked on the design of BCI interfaces (Brain Computer Interface), and on the evaluation of the quality of diagnostic tests and agreement. More recently he tackled the problem of building an interface suitable for the detection and the prediction of respiratory asynchronies of patients in mechanical ventilation and of evaluating the depth of anesthesia
