After obtaining bachelor and master degree in Environmental Engineering, I spent one year
as PhD student in "Science and Technology for Forest and Environmental Management" at
the Università degli Studi della Tuscia Viterbo (Italy) where I could improve Environmental
Engineering skills and participate to several conferences and reseacrh activities. Among these,
one of the most important was the participation to the International Summer School : “Drones
Applied to Cultural Heritage & Archaeology” organized by Università degli Studi di Siena
(Italia), CNR (Consiglio Nazionale di Ricerca) (Italia), FBK (Fondazione Bruno Kessler) (Italia),
CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) /Francia).
Subsequently I started the PhD in the Chemical Process Engineering program at Universitat
Politècnica de Catalunya with the investigation group CEPIMA (Center for Process and
Environmental Engineering) leadered by Prof. Espuña and having as supervisors Prof. Pérez Moya and Prof. Graells. My PhD thesis titled "Advanced Oxidation Process Models for
Optimisation and Decision Making Support in Water Management" was awarded with Cum
Laude and International PhD mention and received the International PhD on Advanced
Oxidation Processes Label by the International PhD Scool on Advanced Oxidation Processes.
The main aim of my investigation research was introducing Chemical and Process System
Engineering methods and tools to provide a contribution to the AOPs (Advanced Oxidation
Processes) investigation field by proposing process models that can be exploited to progress
towards efficient management strategies for practical AOPs operation and inclusion in
wastewater treatment networks. During my PhD I won two grants. The first grant allowed me a stay of 3 months
at the CAPSE (Center for Advanced Process Systems Engineering) investigation group
of the Instituto de Desarrollo Tecnológico para la Industria Química INTEC-CONICET,
Universidad Nacional del Litoral UNL, leadered by Prof. Alberto Carlos Méndez with the
aim of improving my knoweledge on mathematical, modelling and optimization tools. The
second grant was for a 4 month stay at the "Grupo de Ingeniería de Fotorreactores y
Tecnologías Ambientales" of the Instituto de Desarrollo Tecnológico para la Industria Química
INTEC-CONICET, Universidad Nacional del Litoral UNL, leadered by Prof. Orlando Mario
Alfano, with the aim of improving modelling skills on Advanced Oxidation Processes. After
obtaining the PhD degree I started working at Leitat Technological Center where I could
follow my investigation research interest on AOPs by working on Management of National
and International Projects based on ozonation, photocatalysis, Fenton and electro-chemical
processes (electro-coagulation / flotation, electro-oxidation, electro-Fenton) and UV / solar
treatments (photo-Fenton, UV / H2O2, UV / O3 ...) for water treatment focused on: 1) increasing
biodegradability or reducing toxicity in high-load wastewater and 2) elimination of specific
contaminants: emerging contaminants, microorganisms, antibiotic resistance genes. During the
PhD I also worked with the SEQUI (Sociedad Española De Química Industrial E Ingenieria Química) for the generation of a web page.
My informatic skills are: Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system and MS Office package, internet and email, design programs like AutoCAD and Geographic Information
Systems (ArcGIS, ArcView), Matlab programming language, GAMS (The General Algebraic
Modeling System) programming language and Python programming language.
