Bio
Frederic Padilla received the master’s degree in electrical engineering from Supélec, Gif-sur-Yvette, France, in 1995, and the M.Sc. degree in applied physics and the Ph.D. degree in physical acoustics from Paris Diderot University, Paris, France, in 1998.
He joined the French National Center for Scientific Research, Paris, in 1998. He has been a Fulbright Fellow and a Visiting Faculty with Boston University, Boston, MA, USA, in 2008. He was a Visiting Professor with the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, from 2009 to 2011, and the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, USA, from 2017 to 2019. He is currently a Merkin Fellow with Focused Ultrasound Foundation, Charlottesville, VA, USA, where he is also the Director for applied physics research. He developed diagnostic ultrasound for the characterization of bone tissues and the prediction of bone fracture risk. His research agenda researches currently focus on the development of strategies to harness the power of therapeutic ultrasound to enhance the response to immunotherapies in the prostate, breast, and pancreatic cancers, the enhancement of focused ultrasound treatment envelope for brain applications, and ultrasound molecular imaging of cancer.
