Lars A. Forsberg

Associate professor in the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University, Sweden. Obtained my Ph.D. in population genetics in 2008 at Uppsala University with affiliation to Södertörn University, Stockholm, Sweden. In 2009, I took a postdoctoral position at the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University and has established my laboratory in this department. In 2016, I received the European Research Council (ERC) Staring Grant and in 2017 I was appointed as Beijer Researcher and member of SciLifeLab faculty. Funding from the Swedish Research Council (VR) and Cancerfonden is also vital for my work. In 2021 I was awarded ERC Consolidator grant for my HEARTLY project allowing me to dive deeper into my research focus, i.e. somatic mosaicism and its importance for the risk of various human diseases, with special interest and focus on mosaic loss of chromosome Y in blood cells. CEO, co-founder and board member in CRAY Innovation AB, a company based on the LOY findings.
