Bio
Florian Max Schwandner received the Ph.D. (Dr. nat. sci.) degree in geochemistry from ETH Zurich, Zurich, Germany, in 2002.
He is currently an Analytical Geochemist by training, where he is involved in geogenic and biogenic carbon gas emissions, from ground- and space-based observations. His expertise lies in applied geochemical monitoring techniques in extreme and remote environments (active volcanoes, deserts, arctic permafrost, and high alpine sites). He uses satellite-borne sensing techniques as well as ground-based in-situ sampling. He also develops autonomous real-time networks and data management systems, including designing and building his own sensor instrumentation solutions.
