Bio
Linard Filli completed his PhD in the group of Prof. Martin E. Schwab at the Brain Research Institute of the University and ETH Zurich. During his doctoral thesis, he investigated the structural and functional plasticity of the central nervous system after experimental, incomplete spinal cord injury (SCI). He examined anatomical reorganizations of neural tract systems and their effects on motor recovery following SCI. His main focus lied on neural plasticity in intraspinal networks (propriospinal detours) which he studied using cutting-edge neuroanatomical tracing techniques and intraspinal electrophysiology.
In 2012, Linard Filli followed the path of translation and moved to the Locomotion Research Laboratory of University Hospital Zurich for a postdoctoral position. Here, he participated in several clinical trials including therapeutic intervention studies as well as basic research projects focusing on neural control mechanisms underlying locomotion in healthy volunteers and patients with multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disorders and stroke. He was Scientific Head of the Locomotion Research Laboratory from 2016 - 2018 and was involved in the formation of the Clinical Locomotion Unit at the Department of Neurology. In October 2018, Linard Filli moved to the Balgrist University Hospital, where he is Deputy Head of the Swiss Centre for Clinical Movement Analysis (SCMA) and performs research projects in the Spinal Cord Injury Center.
