个人简介
I was at Oxford University as an Undergraduate and was awarded an MPhys in Physics in 2002. I took options in particle physics and astronomy and completed my project in astrophysics. I thoroughly enjoyed my project work and this was the reason I decided to complete a PhD under the supervision of Steve Rawlings in the astrophysics group at Oxfordl. The title of my PhD was "Cosmology with future radio interferometers". I spent 3 years trying to optimize how one would design a radio interferometer so that we could find many galaxies in the high Universe in order to perform cosmological tests with them, tests that were either not possible or very hard to do with standard optical telescopes.
After my PhD I moved to UCL where I spent 4 years as a post-doctoral fellow, two of which as a Leverhulme fellow. I started to work on optical astronomy, most of the work I did at UCL as a PDRA was based on photometric redshifts and weak lensing. The photo-z technique allow us to find out how far away galaxies are by simply looking at the colors of these same galaxies. Then by measuring the shape of these galaxies we can infer the amount of matter present in our universe (this is called weak lensing). I have been involved in a ground based experiment called the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and a satellite named Euclid which will both be able to perform these experiments to different levels of accuracy. I have continued to work on radio surveys for cosmology.
