个人简介
Filipa Martins holds a BSc degree in Biology, a MSc in Molecular Biomedicine and completed the doctoral degree in Biomedicine by University of Aveiro and NOVA University of Lisbon in 2017, performed in collaboration with the Cell Signalling in Neurodegeneration laboratory, Ruhr-Universität - Bochum, Germany. In July 2017, she joined the Molecular Basis of Neuropathologies group at Institute of Biomedicine as a postdoctoral researcher with a fellowship in the project 'pAGE: protein aggregation across lifespan’ and focused her research on the pathophysiology of aging and age-related diseases. During her PhD, Filipa developed a solid background in Cell and Molecular Biology and Neurosciences and experience in several relevant laboratory techniques.
Currently, Filipa Martins is a Junior Researcher at Institute of Biomedicine (Molecular Basis of Neuropathologies group) in the project 'BRI2 role in neuronal differentiation and the underlying molecular mechanisms: towards an innovative regenerative therapy for Alzheimer's Disease'. Importantly, she is co-Principal Investigator of this FCT-funded project (250K) in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) and Cajal Institute (Spain).
Filipa is also Principal Investigator of a European Proteomics Infrastructure Consortium (EPIC-XS) funded project in collaboration with the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (Spain) entitled ‘Identification of molecular targets for Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 using a proteomic approach’. Filipa has developed substantial research on the molecular mechanisms underlying Myotonic Dystrophy type 1 (DM1), namely in the study of protein phosphorylation dysregulation.
In total, she is author of 19 full papers in international peer review journals with a cumulative impact factor of 113.5, with more than 200 citations and an h-index of 9 (Science Citation Index Expanded of Web of Science). She is author in 4 book chapters, received 3 awards, co-supervised 7 MSc students (2 ongoing), and given non-official supervision to several students during their MSc and PhD. She is Review Editor on the Editorial Board of Neurodegeneration, a specialty section of Frontiers in Neuroscience, Frontiers in Neurology and Frontiers in Psychiatry, and had reviewer activity for several other journals, namely for Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, Cells and International journal of molecular sciences.
