个人简介
I am an experimental physicist with solid mathematical skills, developing software, designing electronics and mechanics.
I started my research on proton therapy at Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, in 2012, thanks to a Marie Curie early stage researcher fellowship, within the initial training network ENTERVISION. Later in 2017, I moved to Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) to collaborate in the translation to the clinics of a prompt gamma-ray spectroscopy camera, that was tested with patients in early 2020.
During these eight years of research, I have published ten papers as first author, in topics ranging from brachytherapy to collision detection in radiotherapy and prompt gamma-ray imaging with Compton cameras, collimated cameras or timing spectrometry, with special focus on detector characterization for medical applications in proton therapy. Also, I teach in the Master of Advanced Physics and in the Master of Medical Physics of the University of Valencia and supervise Master thesis. I have participated in the scientific and organizing committees of conferences, in outreach activities, and I am a reviewer of several journals. I have been awarded several national and international prizes.
Currently, I am the PI of the project "Novel cost-effective proton range verification based on coaxial prompt gamma-ray monitoring" funded by Conselleria d'Educació, Investigació, Cultura i Esport (Generalitat Valenciana) under contract number CDEIGENT/2019/011, developed within the IRIS group (http://ific.uv.es/iris). The aim is to investigate if the cost and the required space of prompt-gamma ray cameras can be reduced by minimizing the number of channels while significantly increasing the count rate capability of the remaining ones, without jeopardizing the overall precision. In 2022, I applied to the ERC Starting Grant call and advanced to interview phase. Furthermore, I was awarded the Bruce H Hasegawa Young Investigator Medical Imaging Science Award.
