个人简介
Fernando G. Echeverrigaray is currently a FAPESP postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Physics "Gleb Wataghin", State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and an associate member of the National Institute of Surface Engineering (INES). He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Caxias do Sul (2018). Meanwhile, he has been a collaborate member of the Epipole R&D Group in the same instituition. He worked as a consultant/researcher in R&D&I center of the industrial reactors at Plasmar Tecnologia Ltda, Brazil. He received the Best Poster Silver Prize by the International Union of Materials Research Societies (2017) and Certificate of Excellence in Reviewing (2020), Elsevier. His research interests focus on the multiphase heterostructures of transition metal dichalcogenides and oxides (TMDs/TMOs) and their applications for sustainable development.
In addition, he has experience in the field of materials science and surface engineering, with emphasis on synthesis, characterization and application of thin films and nanostructures, acting mainly on the following themes: PVD, PECVD by electrostatic confinement (EC), oxidation, magnetron sputtering, dynamic glancing angle deposition (DGLAD), ion plating and dual ion beam assisting deposition (DIBAD), as well as physicochemical, optical, mechanical and nanotribological properties of solid surfaces and interfaces.
Her thesis was titled “Interactions of van der Waals in superlubricity of nanostructured and hydrogenated films” under the guidance of Dr. Carlos Alejandro Figueroa. This research focus on the nature of energy dissipation by means of van der Waals interactions, particularly in London dispersion force of hydrogenated diamond-like carbon nanostructures for nanoscale contact mechanics in the wearless regime. The main findings are related to the hydrogen content, surface potential difference, polarizability and molecular deformations. These synergistic effects contribute to achieving the structural superlubricity phenomenon.
