Career Trajectory
Bio
Dr. Farzad Pakdel obtained his Ph.D. in 1989 in molecular biology from the University of Rennes in France. He carried out his postdoctoral work in the United States at the University of Illinois (1989-1992). He is Director of research (DR1) at CNRS and currently team leader at the Inserm Unit 1085 (IRSET), research institute on health, environment and occupational environment, at the University of Rennes in France. He has 30 years of research experience and has participated in many collaborative projects (European contracts, ANR, ANSES, PNRPE, FUI, ARC and League against cancer...). He is a member of Editorial Board of several international journals and has 97 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of Molecular endocrinology and Environmental health (H-index=44). His work focuses on the molecular pathways of estrogen receptor action, in gene transcription, in breast cancer as well as during development. Dr. Pakdel is also interested in understanding the transcriptional and epigenetic effects of endocrine disruptors and phytochemicals interacting with estrogen receptors. In addition, his lab has an interest in understanding signaling crosstalk and the molecular mechanisms of breast cancer progression. It was among the first labs which developed in vivo and in vitro bioassays to screen the hormonal activity and mechanisms of actions of environmental chemicals.
