个人简介
Franck Vidal is a senior lecturer in computer science at Bangor University. His research focuses on image analysis and computer vision, mathematical optimisation, and high-performance computing. He has held research positions in France, Wales and the United States of America and developed a keen interest in large multi-disciplinary research projects. He worked at the Laboratory of Non-destructive Testing using Ionizing Radiations of INSA-Lyon on investigating artefact sources in synchrotron microtomography. In Bangor, Wales, he developed virtual reality training tools for interventional radiology. He worked on a novel algorithm based for positron emission tomography (PET) at the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and the French national research institute in computer science and automation (Inria). He developed Compton scattering computations on GPU at the Department of Radiation Oncology of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He has been awarded grants from the European Commission, European Synchrotron Radiation Facilities (ESRF), NVIDIA, Santander, Fisheries Society of the British Isles, and the Royal Academy of Engineering. Since 2017, he is the secretary of EGUK, the UK Chapter of the Eurographics. He was Programme co-chair of EGUK’s Computer Graphics and Visual Computing conference in 2017 and 2018, guest editor of special editions of MDPI Computers (2018 and 2019).
