Frederic Micolon received the M.Eng. degree in mechanical engineering from National Institute of Applied Sciences, Rouen, France, and the M.Sc. degree in material science from Cranfield University, Bedfordshire, U.K. He has been with the Mechanical Support Group, Institute of Research on Magnetic Fusion, CEA, Cadarache, France, since 2012, involved in the design and thermomechanical simulation of plasma facing diagnostics in the frame of West project (upgrade of Tore Supra tokamak). Since 2013, he has been involved in the design of the ITER equatorial visible/infrared wide angle viewing system.
