Bio
Faustino Martelli received the Laurea degree in physics from the University of Rome, Rome, Italy, in 1981 and the Doktor der Naturwissenschaft (Ph.D.) degree from the Technical University of Munich, Munich, Germany, in 1985.
In 1988, he was a Visiting Scientist at the Ecole Politechnique Fédérale, Lausanne, Switzerland. He was with Fondazione Ugo Bordoni, Rome, Italy, till December 2000. He was the Founder of Opto Speed Italia s. r. l., till June 2002. In September 2002, he joined the TASC Laboratory, INFM-CNR, Trieste, Italy. He is currently with the IMM-CNR, Rome, Italy. He has authored or coauthored more than 140 papers in international scientific journals and conferences proceedings. His research interests include 2-D electron gases in Si, the growth and the structural and optical properties of semiconductor materials, including nanostructures, four-wave mixing in semiconductor optical amplifiers for wavelength conversion in optical transmission systems, and semiconductor nanowires.
Dr. Martelli was the Work-Package Leader in the European project “ATLAS” (IST-1999–10626) within the V European research program and has been active in the European project COST 267.
