个人简介
Dr. Francisco J. Amaro Gahete (FAG) has a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Sciences (2013) and in Medicine (2022) obtaining the UGR-Caja Rural de Granada award for university academic performance at the University of Granada. He also completed three Master’s degrees in the 2013-2014 and 2014/2015 academic years.
FAG has participated in numerous research projects. He obtained two research initiation grants during his undergraduate studies. Thereafter, FAG obtained the most prestigious pre-doctoral grant in Spain (FPU grant) obtaining one of the best scores within the Biomedicine area (2015). During the course of the FPU, FAG completed his doctoral studies, obtaining a PhD in Biomedicine (Summa Cum Laude). His PhD Thesis is composed of a total of 18 research articles, all of them published in very high-impact journals. To note is that one of the manuscripts published by FAG has received the “Fidel Fernández Osuna” Scientific Award (2020) conferred by the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Eastern Andalusia. Importantly, his International PhD Thesis has received two prestigious awards: (i) the “PhD Academy Award” (2021) conferred by the British Journal of Sport Medicine and (ii) the “Extraordinary PhD Award” (2022) conferred by the University of Granada. His current position is Associate Professor at the University of Granada.
Despite his youth, FAG has a wide accredited experience and skills to practice as a researcher. During his PhD studies, he assumed the role of Project Manager in the FIT-AGEING project coordinating a team of more than 20 people. During his PhD studies, FAG has performed 2 research stays in a worldwide prestigious laboratory: XLab, (University of Copenhagen) with Prof. Jorn W. Helge (6 months). Moreover, Dr. Amaro carried out a postdoctoral research stay in the same laboratory (4 months) and, an additional one in the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez, México (2 months).
During his still short career, FAG has made important contributions to the human energy metabolism field specially related to the ageing process. Studies from his Doctoral Thesis (https://n9.cl/0cs17) showed that exercise training could induce an increment of S-Klotho, resulting in one of the still unrecognized physiological mechanisms that can explain the exercise benefits on the ageing process.
FAG is the author of 139 research articles and other 20 which are currently under review in prestigious scientific journals. The sum of the impact index of Francisco José publications is 608, while his average impact factor is 4.4. A total of 54 (39%) articles have been published in collaboration with international researches placed in more than 30 different countries.
FAG currently maintains an active and fruitful collaboration with several research groups from different countries: a) the group led by Prof. Jorn Helge of the University of Copenhagen (Denmark), b) the group led by Prof. Eric Ravussin of the Pennintong Biomedical Research Center (Louisiana, United States); c) the group led by Prof. Jose E Galgani of the Pontifical University of Santiago de Chile (Chile); d) the group led by Prof. Patrick Rensen of the University of Leiden (Netherlands); and e) the group led by Prof. Carl Lavie of the University of Queensland (USA), among others.
FAG is the author of more than 100 meeting abstracts (more than 15 as invited speaker) at national and international conferences. Notwithstanding the foregoing, FAG has maintained an intense activity of scientific dissemination, which has included the participation in courses and conferences with students, appearances in written and audio-visual press, and writing informative articles on web pages.
FAG is a reviewer in prestigious scientific journals (n>25), including Science, British Journal of Sport Medicine, or Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, among others. In addition, he has been guest editor of two special issues in the journal Nutrients [IF: 4,171, Q1], one Research Topic in the journal Frontiers in Physiology [IF:4,134, Q1], and one Research Topic in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition [IF:4,810, Q1].
This intense research activity has allowed FAG to be classified as 0.24% and 1.50% of between 415,864 and 440,618 researchers around the world within the scope of "Exercise" (https://n9.cl/rzb1x) and "Diet" (https://n9.cl/8aq4n6), respectively (see ExpertScape classification).
