Bio
Frédéric GRISCH has completed his Master’s degree in Fluids Mechanics in 1982 and PhD in 1988 (University of Rouen, France). He then joined the “Physics, Instrumentation and Sensing Department” of ONERA (France) as senior scientist. He has been active in the development and application of advanced laser diagnostics for Combustion, Turbulence, Plasma and Aerodynamic Research. He also spent one year in 1995 in the High Temperature Gasdynamics Laboratory of Stanford University as a guest researcher under the direction of Prof. R.K. Hanson.
In 2010, he joined the “Energy and Propulsion Department” of the National Institute of Applied Sciences Engineering school of Rouen (INSA-Rouen Normandie - France) as University Professor. Its research activities lie in the area of laser diagnostics for reactive flows, with current emphasis on laser diagnostics, (Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering, laser-induced Fluorescence, Degenerate Four-Wave mixing, Rayleigh and spontaneous Raman scattering, Laser Thomson scattering), Gas Turbine Combustion and Internal Combustion Engine (Fuel/air mixing, pollutant emissions, spray evaporation, combustion efficiency), Combustion Science (Structure of diffusion and premixed flames, thermal diffusion effects, flame stabilization mechanisms, ignition), Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer ( Evaporation of multi-component fuels in sub-and supercritical conditions).
He is presently Head of the Industrial Chair PERCEVAL “Powering the future with clean and efficient Aero-engines”, research project that seeks to develop efficient Low-NOx fuel injection systems for aeroplanes to reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.
He is also affiliated with the French Aerospace Lab ONERA as scientific consultant since 2012.
He has supervised more than 35 students (10 undergrads, 6 Msc, 18 Phd and 10 Post-docs). He has authored or co-authored more than 55 papers in peer-reviewed journals and scientific books and more than 110 scientific publications presented in conferences.
He is member of the administrative council of the French association of Laser Diagnostics for Fluids Mechanics (AFVL) and the official representative of INSA-Rouen Normandie to the “Association Aéronautique et Astronautique de France” (AAAF).
