Bio
Flavio Griggio received a B.S. and an M.S. degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Padua, Italy, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. Before obtaining the M.S. degree, Flavio spent one year in 2006 as an exchange student in materials science and chemical engineering at the University of California, Irvine. In spring 2007, he joined the internship program in materials science at The Pennsylvania State University, studying formation kinetics and performing templated grain growth studies on mullite. Flavio returned to Penn State full time in summer 2007 to pursue a Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering. Since joining the program, he has been involved in the field of electroceramics. His doctoral research involves thin film processing, microstructural, dielectric, and piezoelectric characterization, and microfabrication. He is also collaborating in an interdisciplinary project to demonstrate the functionality of a MEMS ultrasound imaging system.
